UAE's rules regarding car stickers

The UAE authorities have recently implemented a series of new regulations, which has surprised some residents. A recent incident highlights the importance of adhering to vehicle decoration rules.

A UAE resident was fined AED500 for having a personalized sticker on the car. The incident reportedly occurred near Sharjah City Centre, where the driver was stopped by police and was issued a fine. This case has brought attention to the fact that many residents remain unaware of the restrictions on vehicle decorations.

Mahmood Shakir Al Mashhadani, Senior Associate at Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants, clarified to Khaleej Times that unauthorized stickers can lead to significant fines of up to AED500, as stipulated by Federal Law No. 21 of 1995.

More so, he also asked people to note that any type of sticker, including photo stickers, transparent stickers, or any other decorative elements that may fade the vehicle’s number plate, the driver’s face, or other essential details, can cause consequences. Such restrictions are in place to ensure road safety and facilitate traffic enforcement, he added.
