On Tuesday, Gaza’s health ministry reported at least 93 Palestinians were killed or missing and dozens wounded in an Israeli strike on a residential building in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya. Medics on site confirmed the death of 20 children among those dead in the Israeli strike.
Ismail Al-Thawabta, director of the Gaza government media office, confirmed the official death toll from the attack as 93. This figure is yet to be disputed by the Israeli military, which frequently contests Palestinian figures. “A number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the territory’s health ministry said in a statement.
Matthew Miller, a US State Department spokesperson, called the attack a “horrifying incident with a horrifying result.” Miller informed reporters that the US is actively communicating with Israeli allies to understand the reasons behind the attack.
