Nineteen people in central Israel’s Sharon region sustained injuries after three projectiles were launched from Lebanon early Saturday, Israeli police reported. The launch prompted sirens to sound across multiple areas of central Israel, with some projectiles reportedly intercepted by the Israeli military.
The Israeli national ambulance service initially reported seven injuries in Tira, a town in central Israel, with injuries ranging from mild to moderate. Two additional individuals experienced stress-related symptoms due to the incident.
A statement from the Israeli military confirmed that at least one projectile was likely identified in the area, though the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Later, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for launching drones at what it described as a “vital target” in northern Israel, although it remains unclear if this action was directly related to the reported injuries.
Rising Hostilities Along the Israel-Lebanon Border
The attack comes amid escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where fighting between Israeli forces and the Lebanese group Hezbollah has intensified in recent weeks, heightening concerns about the broader stability of the region. The recent launch adds to an increasing pattern of cross-border hostilities, as both sides brace for potential further escalations.
