Starting November 24, Dubai will have two new Salik toll gates: Business Bay and Al Safa South. This will bring the total number of toll gates to 10. Additionally, these new gates will see dynamic pricing, which could lead to higher toll charges for motorists.
- Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road: This new gate will help reduce traffic on Al Khail Road and Al Rabat Street by diverting traffic from Sharjah, Al Nahda, and Al Qusais towards alternative routes.
- Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road: This gate will help on Sheikh Zayed Road, particularly for drivers going to Meydan Street and Financial Center Street.
Recent rumors about potential changes to Salik toll fees, including dynamic pricing, have been dismissed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The RTA has confirmed that the current flat rate of AED4 per toll gate crossing will remain unchanged.
A resident in the UAE said, “This is going to be good as the traffic has been severe for the past couple of years. However, there’s a lot of concern about local transport. Buses might overwhelm other routes and create more traffic. Not only this, there are a few other routes that lead to the main destinations, but if taken, people might end up spending more money.”
