India, as part of the G20 Troika along with Brazil and South Africa, will participate in key deliberations during the summit on November 18-19. Highlighting the significance of the event, PM Modi tweeted, “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders.”

This year’s G20 agenda, under Brazil’s presidency, builds upon India’s 2023 legacy, which achieved milestones such as the induction of the African Union as a permanent member and consensus on global issues like the Ukraine conflict. PM Modi remarked before his departure, “This year, Brazil has built upon India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions in keeping with our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’”

Before arriving in Brazil, PM Modi concluded a successful visit to Nigeria, where he engaged in bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and met with members of the Indian community. PM Modi’s three-nation tour will conclude with a visit to Guyana from November 19 to 21 at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This visit, the first by an Indian prime minister to Guyana in over five decades, aims to strengthen ties with the South American nation.
