Victoria Kjær Theilvig has made history by winning the title of Miss Universe 2024, becoming the first one from Denmark, to ever claim the crown. The 21-year-old animal rights advocate triumphed in the 73rd edition of the Miss Universe competition, held at the Mexico City Arena.

Videos from the moment surfaced on the internet, accompanied by applause and cheers. Kjær emerged victorious over Miss Nigeria, who secured the runner-up position, while Miss Mexico claimed third place. The ceremony took place in front of 20,000 supporters and was attended by people from various walks of life.

There was a grand performance featuring 131 mariachi musicians and a special performance by singer Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. It was her winning speech that garnered the most attention. As seen in the clips, she said, “A Miss Universe must be a symbol of empathy and action. She must listen to the world’s challenges and use her platform to create tangible change. This means advocating for the voiceless, whether they are animals or people who need a champion.”

This year’s competition was also special as it marked the third time Mexico has hosted the event. In her acceptance speech, Victoria also spoke of resilience, empowerment, and the importance of overcoming challenges, inspiring countless viewers around the world.

Born in 2004 in Soborg, Gribskov, and raised in Copenhagen, Victoria Kjær Theilvig graduated from Lyngby Handelsgymnasium in Kongens Lyngby, specializing in business and marketing. She moved to a more urban part of the city to further her education. After completing her studies, Victoria ventured into entrepreneurship, exploring the jewelry industry, particularly in diamond sales.
