UAE sees a spike in travel plans

A recent study suggests that 7 out of 10 UAE residents are willing to shell out a handful amount to travel and take a break from their regular routine. The latest report by Skyscanner suggests that people are focused on gathering experiences, making memories, and balancing work-life structures.

In a statement, Skyscanner mentioned: “2025 is expected to focus more on shared experiences, creating lasting memories, and building friendships. Both residents and experts, along with agents, agree that spending on overseas holidays is a valuable experience.”

We heard from Sulin Sugathan, Director of Retail, Royal Furniture, who said, “With tremendous enthusiasm across the UAE, the long weekend holidays see families stepping out to enjoy vibrant attractions, cultural performances, parades, and fireworks organized in every emirate. These celebrations are a time for unity, pride, and indulgence, often turning into elaborate occasions that match the grandeur of weddings in terms of planning and spending.”

How much do UAE residents spend on travel?

Anish Mehta, who works in Dubai as a Social Media Manager, also spoke about the importance of taking a break from work. He said, “I am flying to surprise my family. I spent AED1350, but I don’t have any regrets. I was willing to spend up to AED2000 as well. I am more than happy to reunite and make the most of my time in India.”

According to Skyscanner, the top travel trends for 2025 will revolve around unique, immersive experiences and a desire for more meaningful adventures.

Art-Venture: Travelers will be seeking out large-scale cultural experiences that offer an immersive escape into new worlds.

Live Longer and Prosper: Beyond typical spa retreats, travelers are now turning to wellness holidays that promote holistic health and well-being.

Astro Adventurers: As interest in space grows, more travelers look to the stars for inspiration when planning their next getaway.

Sport Mode: With exclusive behind-the-scenes sports shows gaining popularity, fans are eager to witness the action in person.

Cowboy Core: With the Wild West revival in full swing, travelers embrace the rustic charm of ranch experiences.

Horti-Culture: Green-thumbed travelers are drawn to garden getaways that help them reconnect with nature.

Gami-Vacation: Gamers combine their love of video games with travel, attend conventions, and explore gaming hotspots.

When it comes to choosing a destination, weather (67%), food (67%), and attractions (62%) are the top priorities for travelers. Hotel quality (66%) and flight costs (65%) are also major factors influencing travel decisions for 2025, along with visa costs (55%). For travel inspiration, social media (75%), online media (53%), and word of mouth (47%) are the leading sources for vacation ideas in 2025, said the report.
