Ahead of the 53rd National Day celebrations and the occasion of Eid Al Etihad, UAE leaders have ordered the release of over 3,000 inmates from correctional institutions across the country. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has directed the release of 2,269 inmates and pledged to cover all fines and penalties imposed on them. This compassionate gesture reflects His Highness’ commitment to enabling released prisoners to rebuild their lives, achieve family stability, and positively contribute to their communities.
In Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the release of 683 inmates from the Sharjah Correctional and Punitive Institution Department. Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, praised the initiative as a reflection of His Highness’ dedication to fostering family stability and social cohesion.
Similarly, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah approved the release of 118 inmates from punitive and correctional facilities in Fujairah. The prisoners, representing various nationalities, were chosen based on their good conduct and behavior.
Sheikh Hamad emphasized the importance of giving prisoners a fresh start and bringing joy to their families through this initiative. This collective act of generosity underscores the UAE’s commitment to social harmony, second chances, and the well-being of its citizens and residents, as the nation prepares to celebrate its 53rd Eid Al Etihad.-WAM
