India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being a “traitor of the highest order,” alleging a connection between him and international entities working to destabilize India. Speaking on Thursday, Patra referred to reports suggesting links between Gandhi, billionaire investor George Soros, US-based agencies, and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

Patra described the alliance as a “dangerous” triangle, claiming these forces are attempting to provoke public unrest and push for regime change in India. The accusations follow a protest by opposition MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, over the indictment of industrialist Gautam Adani.

BJP MPs, including K. Laxman and Sambit Patra, cited a report from French media outlet Mediapart, which highlighted allegations about the OCCRP’s funding sources and its connections with foreign governments and Soros. The BJP has repeatedly raised concerns about foreign influence in India’s political landscape.

Patra’s comments have sparked further political debate in India, with opposition leaders dismissing the allegations as baseless. The ongoing tensions come amid protests and calls for accountability over Adani-related issues during the winter session of Parliament.
