With Christmas just around the corner, many are flocking to the UAE for a holiday, to visit family, and for other reasons. There has been an increase in passengers leaving Dubai or arriving in the country during the festive season, and Emirates is advising travelers to plan their journeys accordingly.
“Last year, more than 75,000 Emirates customers departed Dubai International Airport daily, but in 2024, these numbers have risen as high as 89,000 on some days, representing an increase of almost 20%,” Emirates mentioned in a blog post.
The airline has identified the busiest travel days: December 12-15, December 20-22, and December 27-29, with over 88,000 passengers expected to depart daily. Emirates recommends arriving at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. To speed up the process, passengers can use various check-in and baggage drop options.
Emirates has further announced that passengers can drop off their luggage at the airport the night before their flight, free of charge. Those flying from Dubai can check in and drop off their bags up to 24 hours before departure, or 12 hours before if flying to the US. Passengers can then head straight to the immigration area closer to their flight time.
For First Class and Skywards Platinum members, Emirates offers home check-in. Additionally, travelers from Ajman can use the 24-hour City Check-in service at Ajman Central Bus Terminal. More so, passengers with special needs will have access to trained staff at Dubai International Airport (DXB), along with a pre-planned guide for those with hidden disabilities. The airline also offers two hours of free parking at the airport, plus access to priority lanes for check-in, security, and boarding if required.
