With Christmas just a few days away, business owners are bracing themselves to keep up with the pace. It’s also that time of the year when tourism is at its peak and back-to-back events are lined up in the pipeline. Business owners say it’s keeping them really busy this year.

Sakina Kanji, Founder, Baskilicious Gifts, said, “The festive season in Dubai is like our busiest, happiest season rolled into one. At Baskilicious, we see up to 70% growth during festive times, and honestly, the energy is contagious. The days leading up to Christmas, Diwali, and Eid, everyone’s looking for meaningful ways to spread joy, and the city’s vibrant multicultural vibe makes it even more special.”

She highlighted that gifting is no longer just about finding the fanciest item—it’s about choosing something thoughtful and personal.

“Over the years, I’ve seen people move towards curated, meaningful hampers that reflect care and effort. At Baskilicious, that’s exactly what we aim to provide: bespoke gifts that tell a story. Eco-friendly packaging and unique touches are becoming the norm, and it’s so exciting to be part of this shift,” Kanji added.

In fact, UAE residents are wonderfully generous, Sakina was quick to highlight: “On average, people spend between AED300 to AED2,000 during the festive season, depending on the recipient and occasion. At Baskilicious, we make sure there’s something for every budget—whether it’s a compact but chic hamper or an indulgent, custom-made gift basket.”

She reflected on her journey with humble beginnings almost eight years ago, inspired by her father, who was also a businessman, and who helped channel the entrepreneurial spirit in her. “My family has been in Dubai since the 1970s, so this city’s entrepreneurial spirit runs deep for me. Surviving the challenges of COVID only made us more determined to offer the best, and seeing the love for our products keeps us going,” she concluded.

Earlier, The Finance 360 reported that similar sentiments were shared by other business owners, including Ayushi Mehta, Founder & Director of Curate and Wrap, and Feefa & Afreena, Founders of The Makers. They also provided a broader perspective on the surge in gift businesses during the year-end.
