His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi wished everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year in the UAE and worldwide peace, prosperity, and happiness in a social media post.
“My sincere congratulations to those celebrating the Lunar New Year in the UAE and the world. I hope that the new year will be a year of happiness, development and stability for them and for all peoples of the world,” he wrote on January 29th.
This year marks the Year of the Snake, which was celebrated in the UAE with folk music, a parade of 60 eco-friendly cars from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and lively events at the Dubai Equestrian Club and Al Marmoom desert.
More so, the celebrations included martial arts, lion dances, and a traditional Khaleeji band. Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, celebrates the start of the new year on the lunisolar Chinese calendar, welcoming the shift from winter to spring. In 2025, the celebrations will kick off on January 29 and last for 15 days, wrapping up with the Lantern Festival on February 12.
