His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has urged the nation to embrace its heritage and history as a foundation for creating a more sustainable future on the National Environment Day, February 4, 2025.
His post on social media platform X read, “On National Environment Day, we draw inspiration from our history of sustainable progress and renew our determination to protect the environment and preserve its resources for future generations. The UAE remains committed to supporting international climate action efforts and promoting collective responsibility towards shared global challenges.”
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE’s commitment to sustainability through investments in renewable energy and policies to reduce environmental impact.
Also, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, also took to X to raise awareness to promote environmentally friendly public behaviors and innovate governmental and community practices that enhance national environmental heritage.
He penned, “National Environment Day is an annual national occasion. Its goal is to establish the principles of sustainability and environmental conservation, raise the awareness of new generations, promote environmentally friendly public behaviors, and innovate governmental and community practices that enhance our national environmental heritage. We call on everyone to play their part in preserving a nature-friendly lifestyle…and we call on everyone to preserve our national gains in the field of sustainability.”
Experts in the UAE believe that countries and companies that recognize this shift will lead the future; those that ignore it will be left behind. “The UAE, with its commitment to green investments, is proving that economic power and environmental responsibility can work together to drive global change. We are at a tipping point where sustainability is no longer a moral choice but an economic necessity,” noted Zoltan Rendes, Partner and CMO at SunMoney Solar Group.
“Green investments aren’t just good for the planet—they’re the smartest business move of our generation. Take solar power— renewable energy technologies have advanced so rapidly that it is now more efficient, scalable, and accessible than ever before, making it both a financial and environmental win,” he added.
Rendes emphasized that the UAE is demonstrating how economic prosperity and climate action can go hand in hand and expressed a desire to contribute to this vision, highlighting that real change occurs when sustainability aligns with profitability.
Meanwhile, du, a leading telecom, and digital services provider, reinforced its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) by organizing a cleanup and hiking event at Hayl Wadi in Fujairah for UAE National Environment Day. Employees participated in supporting the nation’s vision for a greener future, collecting over 150 kg of litter, primarily plastic bags and bottles, to help protect local wildlife and the environment.
