The UAE is set to install over 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by the end of 2025, in a bid to promote clean transportation and reduce carbon emissions, according to Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, during the World Government Summit.
Speaking on the opening day of the summit, Al Olama shared that the ministry, which holds a 50% stake in the UAEV network, successfully installed more than 100 EV chargers across the country in 2024. The network’s expansion is rapidly progressing to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicles.
Al Olama highlighted that the initiative follows a collaborative, integrated approach involving the private sector and local authorities to create a reliable infrastructure that supports the widespread adoption of EVs, aligning with the nation’s sustainability objectives.
In addition, he revealed that the ministry plans to increase the country’s renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030, further demonstrating its commitment to advancing clean energy initiatives.
