UAE residents are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holiday 2025. Recent updates from the Dubai Astronomy Group have suggested that the first day of the holiday will fall on Monday, March 31, based on astronomical calculations.

The group has also encouraged residents to participate in the traditional moon sighting practice to mark the start of Eid. To join in, residents are advised to “look towards the western horizon after sunset to spot the new crescent moon.” For a better view, telescopes or binoculars may be used.

In case anyone spots the crescent moon, they are asked to report their observation to the local authorities or the official moon-sighting committee. The crescent moon is expected to be visible on the evening of March 30, with Eid Al Fitr anticipated to begin on March 31.

Eid Al Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan for Muslims and the UAE has a splash of events and offers, so that there’s something for everyone to rejoice and celebrate.

As Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr are determined by the Islamic lunar calendar, which has 12 months totaling 354 or 355 days, the holiday shifts approximately 10 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar.
