After a sensational domestic season that saw them reach their first-ever Ranji Trophy final, the Kerala cricket team is riding high on momentum—even as they fell short at the last hurdle, losing to Vidarbha in the final last month. The performance, however, has thrust Kerala into the spotlight of Indian domestic cricket.

Looking to build on that success, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has announced a preparatory tour to Oman later this month as part of its roadmap for the upcoming season. The 16-member squad will face off in five 50-over matches against the ICC-ranked Omani national team, giving the players a chance to sharpen their skills in international conditions.

While IPL duties will keep Kerala stars Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby out of the squad, the team will be led by Mohammed Azharuddeen, who had a standout Ranji season with 635 runs. He’ll be joined by another consistent performer, Salman Nizar, who finished just behind him with 628 runs.

The series is scheduled to run from April 20 to 26, and is being viewed as a crucial stepping stone to maintain Kerala’s upward trajectory in domestic cricket.
