His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has officially inaugurated a major new business park in Mumbai on April 9th. This state-of-the-art facility is called the Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) and is owned by DP World, a big global ports and logistics company based in Dubai.
Big Step for India-UAE Ties
The opening of the Nhava Sheva Business Park (NSBP) happened during Sheikh Hamdan’s important visit to India. This event is seen as a big step in making the already strong business and cultural connections between India and the United Arab Emirates even stronger.

DP World Invests Big in India
DP World has invested over $200 million (which is about AED735 million) to build three of these special trade zones in India. They are located near India’s coasts and offer great facilities, flexible warehouse space, simple rules, and helpful services that make business easier.
Nhava Sheva: A Million Square Feet and Growing
The Nhava Sheva Business Park near Mumbai already has one million square feet of warehouse space, and there are plans to build another million square feet. It has special areas, including temperature-controlled spaces, to meet the needs of different industries.
This new park is part of DP World’s network of 12 FTWZs around the world, including two others in India: the Integrated Chennai Business Park and the Cochin Economic Zone. The Nhava Sheva Business Park will help India and the UAE trade more by lowering costs, making things more efficient, and making their supply chains better.

Connecting Trade Globally
These three trade zones in India work closely with DP World’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) in Dubai. This makes it easier to move goods and strengthens the trade connections between India and the UAE with the rest of the world.
Creating Jobs for Women
During the opening of the facility, it was noted that 35 women from the local area were working. This shows DP World’s commitment to creating jobs in the communities where it operates. This effort is part of the company’s goals for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in India, which aim to have more women working in the logistics industry and to create a more welcoming workplace.
Eco-Friendly Design
The Nhava Sheva Business Park has also been recognized for its green design, receiving a Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This shows that the park is focused on protecting the environment and supporting business growth at the same time.
Perfect Location for Trade
The business park’s location is ideal for trade. It’s close to a major Indian port (the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority), the Navi Mumbai Airport, and important national highways. This makes it easier for goods to move in and out of India using different ways of transportation.
