China has dismissed the United States’ proposed 245% tariffs on certain Chinese imports, labeling them as economically unfounded. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that if the U.S. continues its “tariff numbers game,” China will disregard it, as per Reuters.

This response follows a White House announcement indicating that China could face tariffs up to 245% due to its retaliatory actions. The U.S. cited several reasons for these duties, including China’s retaliatory tariffs, a 20% charge related to the fentanyl crisis, and additional tariffs ranging between 7.5% and 100% to counter unfair trade practices.

In retaliation, China has imposed its own tariffs on U.S. imports and has refused to engage in negotiations unless based on mutual respect and equality. Additionally, Beijing lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization, accusing the U.S. of violating global trade rules.

The escalating trade tensions between the two largest economies in the world have raised concerns about potential economic and geopolitical repercussions. Analysts warn that the ongoing trade conflict could disrupt global supply chains and impact international economic stability.

As the situation develops, both nations continue to navigate the complexities of international trade relations, with the global community closely monitoring the outcomes of these disputes.
