The Trump White House has launched a new COVID-19-themed webpage, reviving the lab-leak theory and pointing fingers at China, former President Joe Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the World Health Organization (WHO) for allegedly downplaying the virus’s true origins.

The newly added section on the White House website prominently promotes the belief that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The site, which was initially created to support COVID-19 vaccination efforts, now features a bold banner titled: “LAB LEAK: The True Origins of COVID-19”, accompanied by an image of former President Donald Trump.

This move comes in the wake of a recent CIA report suggesting that a lab leak remains a likely explanation for the pandemic’s origin — a shift from earlier assessments that claimed there wasn’t enough information to confirm the virus’s source.

The page harshly criticizes the previous administration for what it calls a deliberate effort to obscure the truth. It claims that Democrats, alongside Dr. Fauci and mainstream media, actively worked to discredit the lab-leak theory and promote the narrative that COVID-19 had a natural origin.

According to a statement from the White House, the webpage is meant to expose how “Democrats and the media dismissed alternative treatments and covered up the true origins of COVID-19.”

The site also directly challenges a well-known scientific article, The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2, alleging that Dr. Fauci used it to support the narrative of a natural emergence of the virus.

It lists five main arguments supporting the lab-leak theory:

  1. The virus shows biological traits that don’t occur naturally.
  2. All human cases trace back to a single event, which is unlike previous pandemics.
  3. Wuhan hosts China’s top SARS research facility, which has conducted high-risk “gain-of-function” research with questionable biosafety standards.
  4. Wuhan Institute of Virology staff reportedly fell ill with COVID-like symptoms in late 2019, before the outbreak was linked to the local wet market.
  5. If COVID-19 had natural origins, scientific evidence would likely have surfaced by now, but it hasn’t.

The updated messaging signals renewed focus by Trump and his allies on the lab-leak theory as part of the political conversation around the pandemic and its aftermath.-IANS
