The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai set a new benchmark for vehicle plate number auctions, generating a record-breaking AED98.83 million during its 118th public auction held on Saturday evening, April 26, 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel.
This auction marks the highest total ever achieved in the history of distinctive number plate auctions since their launch, underscoring the growing appeal and symbolic value of personalized vehicle plates among collectors and enthusiasts.
Top Bids for Exclusive Plates
The standout of the evening was the number plate CC22, which fetched the highest bid of AED8.35 million, followed by BB20 at AED7.52 million, and BB19 at AED6.68 million. Other notable sales included AA707 at AED3.31 million and AA222 at AED3.3 million.

In total, the RTA offered 90 plates across various categories – AA, BB, CC, IJ, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z—featuring two-, three-, four-, and five-digit combinations. The nominal value of all plates stood at AED16.57 million, while the final sales figures far exceeded expectations.
The RTA emphasized that the overwhelming success of the auction reflects the effectiveness of its ongoing strategy focused on transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity. The auction was open to all qualified participants, both in person and online.
Registration was made available through multiple channels, including the RTA website, mobile app, and Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. A 5% value-added tax (VAT) was applied to all sales.
To take part, participants were required to have a traffic file in Dubai, submit a security cheque of AED25,000 made out to the RTA, and pay a non-refundable registration fee of AED120. Payment options included credit card transactions via the RTA’s online platforms.
