Italy’s world leader in engineering and drilling activities, Saipem, has secured two offshore contracts in Saudi Arabia, totalling around $1 billion, under its ongoing long-term partnership with Saudi Aramco.

Under the first contract, Saipem is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of three production deck modules, 33 kilometres of subsea rigid pipelines with diameters of 12 inches and 16 inches, as well as 34 kilometres of subsea power cables. This work will be carried out at the Marjan oil and gas field.

The second contract involves the EPCI of three jackets, five production deck modules, 22 kilometres of subsea rigid pipelines with a diameter of 16 inches, five kilometres of subsea flexible pipelines, and 35 kilometres of subsea power cables at the Zuluf and Safaniyah oil fields.

Saipem will utilise its construction vessels currently operating in the region for the offshore aspects of these projects.

The fabrication work for these projects will be carried out at Saipem’s Saudi facility, Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators.

This is Saipem’s second agreement with Saudi Aramco in just a few months. In July, the company secured a contract worth around $500 million for work on the Abu Safa, Berri, and Manifa fields in Saudi Arabia.
