Primark is set to make its Middle Eastern debut in partnership with Alshaya Group, a leading retail franchise operator in the region. On 5th September, the Kuwaiti retail operator announced a “strategic partnership with Primark” to explore opportunities to bring its stores to the Middle East.

Alshaya Group boasts an impressive portfolio of over 4,000 stores, cafes, leisure destinations, and digital e-commerce platforms. Its recent tie-up with the Dublin-based high-street giant is expected to diversify the budget retail landscape in the Middle East by bringing global brands across the Atlantic. John Hadden, CEO, Alshaya Group, echoed this ambitious goal in a statement: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Primark to discuss potential opportunities to bring their stores to the region. For many years, shoppers across the region have asked for Primark, and we are looking forward to the start of a successful partnership to help bring their exceptional in-store experience to the GCC.”

Aside from the announcement, details on where Primark will cement its first stores in the Middle East are yet to be disclosed. However, initial buzz from the announcement has accelerated the Middle East’s ambitious vision to become the world’s shopping mall.
