The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has launched four key services to assist individuals and companies during the UAE’s two-month visa amnesty period, which started on Sunday, September 1.
During this grace period, those who have violated the nation’s visa regulations can resolve their status without the risk of fines, travel bans, or exit fees. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to create a safer and more compliant society.
MOHRE is offering services including the issuance, renewal, and cancellation of work permits, as well as the option to file complaints for work abandonment. These services are available until Thursday, October 31, 2024, and are aimed at individuals with expired work or residency permits, as well as those facing work abandonment complaints, whether they are employed by an establishment or work as domestic workers.

Eligible individuals can access these services via the ministry’s website, mobile app, or at designated business service and domestic worker service centers. The initiative encourages people in violation of visa rules to regularize their status during this period.
Additionally, those wishing to leave the country can do so without facing legal or financial penalties. However, they must secure a departure permit through official channels, which will allow them a 14-day window to exit the UAE.
Employers, including those who hire domestic workers, can also benefit from this grace period by applying for exemptions from administrative fines associated with delays in submitting employment contracts or renewing work permits.
