Football enthusiasts in Dubai are set for a thrilling spectacle as legendary players, including Paul Pogba, Roberto Carlos, and John Terry, headline a special exhibition match later this year. Taking place at Al Maktoum Stadium on Monday, November 30, the match will feature FIFA World Cup winners, Champions League medalists, and domestic league champions competing for the prestigious King’s Cup.

The event will see stars like Chelsea icon John Terry, Brazilian great Roberto Carlos, and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba—who continues to challenge his long-term ban—take the field alongside other football legends. Players will don a unique “King’s Guard” shirt, allowing them to play 15 minutes per half without the risk of yellow or red cards and avoiding offside calls. While Pogba won’t wear a name or number, the match aims to support charitable causes.

Captaining the King’s XI will be Dutch legend Edgar Davids, while the opposing team, representing Hedge & Sachs, will be led by John Terry. Belgium’s Marouane Fellaini will join Terry’s squad, adding an aerial threat in set-piece situations.

Other football legends confirmed include Michael Owen, Paul Scholes, Blaise Matuidi, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Jay-Jay Okocha, with full line-ups to be announced in the weeks ahead.

The match, benefiting the Al Jalila Foundation, marks the third consecutive year that Dubai will host a legends exhibition game, further cementing the city as a hub for elite sporting events.

“The first event we did involved Manchester United, and the second one also involved the Red Devils and a World 11, so I realised we needed to mix it up this year,” Mohammed Mousa, event founder.

“I got involved with the Sheikh and we said, ‘okay, let’s try and build a concept very different to what we’ve been doing all along’. We both put our A-listers together to create two teams with outstanding quality. We’re trying to do what they’re doing in Saudi, but we’re doing it a little different. That’s how the King’s Cup was born.”
