Some parts of the United Arab Emirates experienced heavy rains and strong winds on Sunday after an earlier forecast predicted rainfall across parts of the country until September 30.

Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah experienced heavy rains while small hail fell over Sharjah’s Al Dhaid Road.

The National Centre of Meteorology advised people to take precautions and issued orange and yellow alerts in these northern emirates.

Residents can expect rainy conditions to continue until 8pm today in eastern and northern areas. The showers will be accompanied by strong winds that stir up dust and dirt, reaching speeds of 45 kmph, leading to a decrease in horizontal visibility to less than 3,000 meters.

Wadi, nestled amongst Ras Al Khaimah Mountains, came back to life as water flowed through the river beds. Some parts of the country towards Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain experienced thunder as heavy showers swept through these emirates.

On Saturday, the UAE experienced heavy rainfall, and a red alert was issued for fog in certain areas. Earlier today The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow alert for convective clouds formation associated with rainfall.
