UAE's new visa-on-arrival rule for Indians

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has decided to give more Indian nationals visa-on-arrival to the UAE. This means that Indian people can now get a visa when they arrive in the country, instead of having to apply for it before they travel.

Travel agents believe that this will increase their business by 15 to 17%. They think that many Indian people who travel to Europe or the UK will choose to stop in the UAE for a few days before or after their trip. This is because they can now get a visa easily, reports Khaleej Times.

It was only on Thursday that the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced this new privilege. While the country welcomes people in huge numbers from India, the ones with tourist visas for the UK and EU countries can easily obtain a visa on arrival.

Earlier, the option was limited to individuals holding residence or tourist visas for the US, or those with residency in the UK and EU. Indian citizens with valid passports and visas can now obtain a 60-day visa to the UAE for AED250.

The country is trying to strengthen its relationship with India, looking at long-term strategic partnerships. This will attract more investors, entrepreneurs, and tourists – which will also help in strengthening economic and trade relations, stated Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, director-general of the ICP.

The scorching heat has now come down to rest, and soon, the best season of the year will begin with many opportunities for people within the country and also for those who are looking at doing a trip here.
