Failing to secure a permit could result in a fine of at least AED50,000 and imprisonment, as per Federal Decree Law No. 17. Here’s a step-by-step guide to obtaining approval for fireworks and pyrotechnic displays in Dubai and Sharjah.

Dubai

To organize a laser show or any pyrotechnic display in Dubai, you must obtain approval from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA). Businesses in the entertainment industry can apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) directly through the DCAA’s online portal.

Steps to Apply for a Permit:

  1. Visit the DCAA website and click on ‘Services’ at the top of the page.
  2. Select ‘Issuance Permits for Aviation Safety Operations.’
  3. Choose ‘Application for a No-Objection Certificate to Conduct a Laser or Pyrotechnic Display.’
  4. Start the service and log in using your UAE Pass, Facebook, Google, or website account.
  5. After completing the application and paying the necessary fees, your permit will be issued instantly.

Fees:

  • AED2,000 per transaction
  • AED10 Knowledge Dirham Fee (KDF)
  • AED10 Innovation Fee

Sharjah

For a fireworks display in Sharjah, approval must be obtained from the Sharjah Department of Civil Aviation. The process requires submitting a formal request via the department’s official website.

Steps to Apply for a Permit:

  1. Visit the Sharjah Department of Civil Aviation’s website and click on ‘Services.’
  2. Under the ‘No Objection Letters’ section, select ‘Fireworks.’
  3. Download the application form provided under this section.
  4. Submit the following documents with your application:
    • Company trade license
    • Official request letter detailing the event
    • Security clearance from the General Civil Aviation Authority
  5. Email the completed application and documents to the department.
