Airbnb of warehouses coming to Dubai

Dubai Customs is launching a new digital platform that will allow warehouse owners to rent out their spaces. This platform is like an “Airbnb for warehouses” that will make it easier for businesses to find the right storage space.

Amid growing demand for storage volume in the UAE, warehouse owners can list their spaces for rent on the platform. Moreover, the options will be customized based on size, location, type, and lease duration. Khaleej Times reports that in the first nine months of 2023, businesses needed 9.9 million square feet of warehouse space. However, there was only 1.56 million square feet under construction. This has led to rising rental prices in the industrial and logistics sector, especially in Jebel Ali.

The new platform will also include bonded warehouses for goods that are not yet taxed. This will give businesses more flexibility in storing and re-exporting products. The platform uses blockchain technology to secure the transactions.

This groundbreaking new digital platform was reportedly showcased at GITEX Global 2024 and offers a centralized system that simplifies registration. This innovative platform is expected to transform the way warehouse space is leased in the UAE, providing a more efficient and transparent process for all parties involved.

Officials in Dubai will soon reveal its launch date and listing fees.
