On October 23, UEFA Champions League action continued with RB Leipzig hosting Liverpool FC and Manchester City facing off against Sparta Prague.

Nunez’s Goal Secures Narrow Victory for Liverpool

Liverpool faced early pressure during their match against Leipzig, but a breakthrough came when Darwin Nunez scored to give the Reds a crucial lead. Following the goal, Mohamed Salah and his teammates found their rhythm, maintaining control throughout the game. Despite multiple attempts by Nunez to extend the lead, Leipzig’s goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi made several key saves. Ultimately, Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory, placing them in a tie with Aston Villa atop the table, with both teams winning all three of their matches for a total of nine points each.

Manchester City Sets Champions League Record

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City delivered a commanding performance against Sparta Prague, winning 5-0 and establishing a new Champions League record for the most consecutive unbeaten games, reaching 26 matches. This milestone surpassed the previous record of 25 games set by Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009. City’s dominance in the match highlighted their strength, further solidifying their position in the competition.

Challenging Matches Ahead

Looking forward, Liverpool will host German champions Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield, while Manchester City will travel to Portugal to face Sporting CP. Both matches are scheduled for November 6.
