Iran has declared its right and obligation to defend itself following a series of Israeli airstrikes on military sites within its borders, which reportedly killed two Iranian soldiers. The strikes, conducted early Saturday, were described by Israel as a response to recent attacks allegedly orchestrated by Tehran.

“Iran has the right and the duty to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated, referencing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which allows nations the right to self-defense in the face of armed attacks.

The strikes, which began around 2 a.m. local time, led to multiple explosions reported by Iranian media across the capital and at nearby military bases. Following the operation, the Israeli military confirmed the “targeted” attacks had concluded, adding that all aircraft returned to base safely.

Several countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Egypt, have condemned the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. The rising tensions also caused disruptions, with numerous UAE flights canceled or rerouted on Saturday amid the regional unrest.

The recent escalation reflects a deepening conflict, with potential ripple effects across the Middle East as both nations reiterate their security stances.
