Starting November 1st, motorists in Sharjah will have to pay for parking until midnight in zones marked with blue signs. This change applies to all 7-day zones, where fees are charged every day of the week.
Previously, paid parking was from 8 AM to 10 PM. The extended hours aim to tackle the increasing demand for parking spaces in Sharjah, especially during peak hours and late nights.
The municipality believes this change will help ensure fair access to parking spaces for everyone and reduce traffic ruckus in the internal areas.
In a statement, Hamid Al Qaid, Director of the Public Parking Department at Sharjah City Municipality, mentioned that the emirate is experiencing significant tourism, commercial, and residential growth and to support this development, implementing fees for public parking is essential and demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to minimizing misuse of these facilities.
Not only this, he added that the new timing for paid parking was implemented after thoroughly studying and taking follow ups from multiple observations.
