Carlos Alcaraz secured the Laver Cup for Team Europe on September 22 in Berlin, Germany, with a commanding 6-2, 7-5 victory over Taylor Fritz in the decisive match.
The competition, which began on September 20, saw Team World and Team Europe go head-to-head in a closely contested tournament. With the cup on the line, the showdown came down to the final match between the Spaniard Alcaraz and the American Fritz.
Alcaraz, a four-time Grand Slam champion, dominated the first set and overcame a tougher challenge in the second, sealing the win without needing a super tiebreak. “It’s been great. We came here as a team to win the Laver Cup, and I’m really happy we pulled through. It was a tough battle, and we almost lost,” Alcaraz said after the victory.
