An Akasa Air flight heading to Bengaluru had to turn back to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday following a “security alert,” according to the airline. Flight QP 1335 was transporting 174 passengers, including three infants, along with seven crew members.
“The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are monitoring the situation and have advised the pilot to divert the flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi as a precaution,” stated the spokesperson for the airline, adding that the flight captain followed all necessary emergency protocols to ensure a safe landing in Delhi.
Akasa Air added that it remains in constant coordination with local authorities. “Our teams are on the ground and prepared to assist all passengers to ensure their safety and comfort,” the airline stated.
On Wednesday, an IndiGo flight encountered a bomb threat, making it the second incident for the airline within two days. The Mumbai-Delhi flight was diverted to Ahmedabad, where passengers were evacuated after the aircraft was isolated, as confirmed by an IndiGo spokesperson.
