The production schedule hints strongly at an early 2025 release. LG Innotek, Apple’s camera partner, is slated to begin mass-producing the SE 4’s camera modules in December after completing initial testing. This timeline suggests that the camera components should be ready about three months ahead of the iPhone SE 4’s launch, making a March release highly likely.
Upgraded Display and Design
One of the most anticipated changes to the iPhone SE 4 is a larger, more advanced display. Moving away from the previous 4.7-inch LCD screen, Apple is reportedly planning a 6.1-inch OLED screen for the SE 4, similar to the display size found in the iPhone 15. The switch to OLED will deliver deeper colors, better contrast, and a more immersive viewing experience.
With this larger, bezel-free screen, Apple is also doing away with the traditional home button and its classic Touch ID feature. Instead, the SE 4 is expected to include Face ID, aligning its design with recent flagship models and offering a more modern, all-screen look.
Enhanced Charging and Camera Features
In line with the European Union’s universal charging directive, the iPhone SE 4 will switch from the Lightning port to USB-C, making it more compatible with a wider range of devices. This addition will bring convenience and consistency to Apple’s lineup as all new iPhones now support USB-C charging.
On the camera front, the iPhone SE 4 will see a notable upgrade as well. Rumors suggest Apple is moving from a 12MP camera to a 48MP rear lens, a significant jump that promises improved image quality. This high-resolution camera is expected to bring low-light performance enhancements, potentially including night mode capabilities and advanced photo-processing features that were previously exclusive to Apple’s premium models.
Price Adjustment
While Apple is aiming to keep the iPhone SE 4 budget-friendly, it is expected to see a slight price increase due to rising production costs and the enhanced technology it offers. The starting price is likely to be just under $500, up from the SE 3’s entry price of $430. Nonetheless, with its larger OLED display, upgraded camera, and universal USB-C charging, the iPhone SE 4 promises a strong value for budget-conscious users looking to stay within the Apple ecosystem.
