Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized on January 16th after sustaining injuries during a knife attack by an intruder at his residence in Mumbai. The incident occurred at around 2.30 AM and was as an attempted burglary, as mentioned by Indian media reports.
Khan is currently receiving treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra. A hospital statement revealed that the actor sustained “six stab wounds,” with “two being deep.”
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, told IANS, “There’s one close to the spine. He is being operated upon by a team of doctors led by Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi.”
A statement issued by Kareena and Saif’s team mentioned that the latter suffered an arm injury during the incident. “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and (his wife and actor) Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine,” the statement read.
The family appealed for privacy, adding, “We request the media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police are already conducting their investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”
According to a police official, an unidentified person broke into Khan’s house, leading to a scuffle during which the actor was injured. Family members were reportedly present at the residence during the incident. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and several glimpses show the actor’s children have reached the hospital to check on him.
