Dubai traffic, while generally well-managed, is getting extremely congested during peak hours, given the increasing number of expats in the country. While the RTA has implemented various measures to alleviate the situation, they recently announced the results of two surveys on remote working and flexible working hours, which may ease the situation.Â
In a statement on X, the RTA mentioned, “RTA and Dubai Government Human Resources Department announced the results of two surveys on remote working and flexible working hours.”
A recent survey involving 644 companies and 12,000 employees, highlighted the significant impact of remote and flexible work arrangements on Dubai’s traffic patterns.
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA, emphasized that these flexible work policies contribute to a more balanced and integrated transport system. By reducing peak-hour traffic and promoting sustainable transportation options, these initiatives aim to improve the overall efficiency and sustainability of Dubai’s transportation network.
As per the statement, he said, “Remote work and flexible working hours are among the traffic demand management policies aimed at achieving balance and integration in the transport system by reducing or redistributing demand across time and place while promoting sustainable transport options.”

These days, the traffic between Sharjah and Dubai is getting heavy, especially during peak hours. The main route connecting the two cities is Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, which can experience congestion, particularly around rush hour times. Local commuters complain about the still jam near the Sahara Centre border that leads to a 2-hour delay on a regular basis.
