U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced plans to visit the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia in the near future. “It could be next month, or perhaps a bit later,” he stated when discussing potential dates for the trip. The announcement came during the signing of executive orders in the Oval Office.

The comment follows a report from Axios, which revealed that White House officials are planning President Trump’s first trip to Saudi Arabia in mid-May. The visit is intended to signal appreciation for the Gulf country’s commitment to investing in U.S. industry.

This trip will mark Trump’s first international journey since beginning his second term. He reiterated that Saudi Arabia was chosen as his first foreign destination after the kingdom pledged nearly USD 1 trillion in investments in U.S. companies, as reported by the Times of Israel.

Reflecting on his previous visits, Trump recalled traveling to Saudi Arabia during his first term after the country pledged $450 billion in U.S. investments, with the recent pledge further solidifying the strong ties.

Trump said, “I view it as jobs more than anything else, and now we’re close to a trillion dollars,” adding, “So it’s more than double the number that we did when I first came to office.”

Further, according to an Axios report, senior officials from both the U.S. and Saudi Arabia also discussed the potential visit dates, including talks held in Saudi Arabia about the ongoing war in Ukraine. Initially, April 28 was considered the likely date for the trip, but it was later postponed.

It also highlighted that Trump’s choice to visit Saudi Arabia as his first foreign trip underscores the strengthening relationship between the Trump administration and Gulf nations, particularly in terms of economic collaboration and investment.
