Dubai has started constructing its first air taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport (DXB), announced His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The 3,100-square-meter station, designed to handle 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually, is part of Dubai’s innovative transport strategy.
Set to launch in 2026, the initial phase will include four strategic locations: DXB, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. Developed in collaboration with Skyports, the stations will feature dedicated take-off and landing areas, electric charging facilities, passenger lounges, and enhanced security measures.
The service is expected to cut travel time between DXB and Palm Jumeirah to 10-12 minutes, a significant reduction from the 45-minute drive during peak hours, thereby helping to alleviate traffic congestion in Dubai.
