Dubai Design Week 2024 Wraps Up: A Global Showcase Of Innovation

Dubai Design Week 2024 concluded on November 10, with an impressive turnout, attracting design enthusiasts from around the world. The event showcased an array of works by international designers and artists, each bringing a unique story and talent to the global stage. Here’s a look at some of the standout participants from this year’s event.

Sculptor Shabir Ahmed Mir

Shabir Ahmed Mir, a multi-disciplinary practitioner in arts, specializing in sculpture highlighted his passion and experience at this year’s event. He said, “My practice reflects my affection/ passion for sculptures, calligraphy, and my continuous interest in exploring materials.”

As a sculptor based in Dubai, he is passionate about creating immersive spaces that challenge traditional notions of form and boundary. His artistic journey began at NCA, Lahore, where he earned a degree in Graphic Design. “This foundation has allowed me to experiment with innovative art forms and push the boundaries of creativity,” Mir noted.

MASKA

MASKA, a luxury gifting design studio founded in 2013, showcased its elegant and artistic approach to gifting at Dubai Design Week.

The brand is renowned for creating memorable and personalized gifts. The team shared, “MASKA specializes in creating unique and memorable gift experiences. They offer a range of curated gifts, custom fabric wraps, and other gifting supplies. With a focus on creativity and customer satisfaction, MASKA has established itself as the leading provider of personalized gifting solutions in the UAE.”

Designer Khaled Zohgra’s Collection

“Living in the UAE for the past four years has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase my brand,” said Khaled Zohgra, founder of KF Bracelets & Watches, adding, “I’ve built a loyal local customer base who appreciates my designs. It’s incredibly rewarding to see my work resonate with people here.”

Zohgra’s designs have even caught the eye of celebrities, and his frequent travels between Dubai and Lebanon have made it all worthwhile.

The Street Scent

Asukwo, Brand Manager at The Street Scent, expressed gratitude for the support and platform provided by Dubai Design District. He highlighted the role of Dubai’s vibrant creative community in the brand’s journey and success.

“As a Dubai-based brand with French design roots led by a Nigerian designer, we had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Dubai Design District Marketplace, an experience that exceeded all our expectations. It was a moment of pride and excitement to present our curated collection of perfumes to a diverse audience, from local enthusiasts to international experts, all eager to experience our unique scents,” he said.

“This initiative not only amplifies our work but also shines a spotlight on local artisans, bringing their talent and craftsmanship to a global stage. We are grateful to be part of this dynamic ecosystem that champions innovation and creativity right here in Dubai,” Asukwo added.
