Dubai Duty Free set a new sales record in 2024, achieving annual revenue of AED7.901 billion ($2.16 billion). The milestone was driven by strong year-end performance, with December sales hitting AED821.94 million ($225.19 million), up 2% from December 2023.
The retailer’s 41st anniversary celebrations on December 20, which featured a 25% discount on a wide range of goods, contributed significantly to the record-breaking month. The one-day promotion generated AED59.99 million ($16.44 million) in sales.
Confectionery was the top-performing category in December, with sales increasing by an impressive 29.46% compared to the same month last year. Throughout 2024, Dubai Duty Free recorded over 20.733 million sales transactions—an average of 56,649 per day—and sold 55.137 million units of merchandise.
Online sales accounted for AED197 million ($54 million), or 2.5% of the annual turnover. Departures contributed 90% of total sales at AED7.121 billion ($1.951 billion), a 0.84% year-on-year increase, while arrivals sales dropped by 12.21% to AED537 million ($147 million).
Looking ahead, Dubai Duty Free plans to enhance its retail operations, including completing renovations in the arrival shops across all three terminals by early 2025.
