flydubai has reported record-breaking financial results for the year ending December 31, 2024, marking its best performance in its 15-year history. The Dubai-based airline posted a pre-tax profit of AED2.5 billion (US$674 million), a 16% increase compared to the previous year. The total revenue for the year reached AED12.8 billion (US$3.5 billion), a 15% rise from AED11.2 billion (US$3 billion) in 2023.

This achievement was driven by flydubai’s diverse network and strong business model. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, praised the airline’s success, noting its key role in supporting Dubai’s economic and tourism vision. He emphasized the airline’s solid business foundation, commitment to innovation, and continuous growth, which have contributed to making Dubai a highly connected global hub.

The airline also saw a 15% increase in EBITDA, reaching AED4.1 billion (US$1.1 billion), reflecting strong operational efficiency, cost management, and digital advancements. Fuel costs made up 28% of operating expenses in 2024, down from 32% in 2023, thanks to lower average fuel prices. flydubai ended the year with a cash balance of AED4.7 billion (US$1.3 billion).

In 2024, flydubai carried 15.4 million passengers, an 11% increase from 2023, and its capacity grew by 10%. Business Class bookings also saw an 18% rise. The airline expanded its network to 131 destinations in 55 countries, adding 10 new routes, including destinations in Europe, Asia, and Africa. flydubai also continued seasonal operations to nine summer destinations.

Despite challenges with aircraft deliveries, the fleet grew to 88 aircraft, with an average age of 5.3 years. flydubai’s current order book includes 127 Boeing 737 aircraft and 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to be delivered over the next decade. The airline’s codeshare partnership with Emirates helped nearly 2.3 million passengers connect seamlessly across 235 destinations in 101 countries.
