Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been honoured with the Airports Council International (ACI) Safety Recognition Award 2025, acknowledging its forward-thinking and innovative approach to aerodrome safety.
This award recognises airport operators that go beyond standard safety compliance, embracing impactful strategies that enhance safety management and reduce risks. DXB stood out for implementing smart, scalable safety solutions that bolster operational resilience and set new industry standards.
The accolade was formally received by Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, and Buti Qurwash, SVP of Safety & Security, at the 2nd ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly and Conference, held in New Delhi, India.
DXB’s safety framework revolves around innovation, proactive engagement, and strong collaboration. Recent programmes have included the Safety Superstar Award, designed to recognise employees for outstanding contributions to safety, along with a confidential reporting system that empowers team members to raise safety concerns easily and without hesitation.
The airport has also embraced a variety of tools to foster a safety-first culture across its workforce and stakeholders. This includes interactive training videos, targeted safety surveys, and joint safety campaigns, all aimed at boosting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Paul Griffiths emphasized the core value of safety within the organisation:
“Safety isn’t just about compliance — it’s the backbone of how we operate. This recognition from ACI is a testament to the commitment of our teams and partners, who work tirelessly to keep DXB running safely and seamlessly every day. At DXB, we don’t wait for challenges to arise; we anticipate them.
We use data, technology, and collaboration to ensure safety evolves in step with the demands of a fast-moving industry. As the world’s busiest international airport, we have a duty not only to maintain the highest standards but to push them forward, setting new benchmarks for aviation worldwide.”
With this recognition, DXB continues to lead by example, reinforcing its position as a global aviation hub that prioritises safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
