Dubai International Airport Ranked Among The Busiest Airports In The World

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been once again ranked among the world’s busiest airports for the international passengers, according to the report from the world’s leading data platform for the global travel industry (OAG).

The airport handled 44.9 million travelers in the first half of this year, one of the highest on record for the emirate’s aviation hub.

The Top 10 busiest global airports in the world are calculated using total airline capacity which includes both domestic and international flights. These are calculated using international airline capacity.

Let’s take a look at some of the busiest global airports:

·       Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) continues to be the busiest global airport in September 2024 with 5.2 million seats, however the airport has had a drop in seats per day of 2% this month compared to last month.

·       Dubai International Airport (DXB) remains in second place with 4.9 million seats, just 304,403 (6%) seats behind Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL).

·       Tokyo (HND) is the third busiest airport this month with 4.6 million seats.

·       Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has had the biggest decrease in seats per day in September 2024 compared to last month dropping by 5%, which has moved the airport down two places to sixth with 4.2 million seats.

·       London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Istanbul Airport (IST) have both moved up a place to fourth and fifth respectively.

.      Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) has moved up to the top 10 Busiest Global Airports for September 2024.
