Dubai has introduced the ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme’ to enhance family stability, improve quality of life, and promote work-life balance for Emirati families. Launched on Saturday, the programme includes several initiatives in its first phase. Among these is a 10-day paid marriage leave for Dubai government employees who are newly married, allowing them to transition smoothly into married life. Additionally, mothers employed in Dubai government offices can opt for remote work on Fridays during the first year after maternity leave, helping them balance work and childcare.
The programme also offers significant financial and housing support. Monthly housing loan premiums for beneficiaries of the Dubai Weddings programme are reduced to a minimum of AED3,333, provided their income does not exceed AED30,000. Moreover, in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, ready-made housing is prioritized for these beneficiaries.
Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, highlighted the programme’s mission, emphasizing the importance of family stability in building a brighter future. “Strong families are essential to create a better future. We are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of every Emirati family in Dubai, ensuring their lasting happiness and stability while empowering them to nurture future generations who can shape a brighter tomorrow,” she said.
The Dubai Weddings programme, launched in January 2024, plays a pivotal role in supporting Emirati couples by covering wedding costs and offering free wedding halls and neighborhood Majlises. By the end of 2024, it had facilitated 344 weddings, accounting for 28.3% of Emirati weddings in Dubai, and contributed to a 10.1% increase in such weddings compared to 2023. All Emirati citizens in Dubai planning to marry can register for the programme through the ‘Emirati’ platform on the Dubai Now app or via the Community Development Authority’s website.
Future phases of the ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme’ will expand on these initiatives by introducing additional benefits in education, health, and other social services, further empowering Emirati families. With its innovative policies, the programme aims to foster strong, stable, and happy families, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
