A 70-year-old Pakistani man has been sentenced to three months in prison and deportation for causing permanent disability to a 34-year-old Indian man during a heated argument over a parking space in Dubai.

The incident, which occurred on February 8, 2023, in Tecom, escalated from a verbal altercation into a physical confrontation that left one man permanently injured.

According to court records, the dispute began when the Pakistani man claimed a parking space intended for use by the Indian man. The argument turned physical when the older man forcefully pushed the younger man, causing him to fall and sustain severe injuries.

Medical reports revealed that the victim suffered a fractured tibia in his left leg, resulting in nerve damage, muscle atrophy, and a 50% permanent disability in the leg.

In retaliation, the Indian man struck the Pakistani man on the head, causing injuries that left him unable to perform daily tasks for 20 days.

Legal Proceedings and Convictions

The Dubai Criminal Court relied on forensic evidence and witness testimonies, including statements from both parties and an on-site investigator, to arrive at its verdict.

During interrogations, the Pakistani man admitted to pushing the Indian man but claimed it was in response to verbal provocation. The court convicted him of physical assault and causing permanent disability and sentenced him to three months in jail, followed by deportation.

The Indian man’s case has been transferred to the Misdemeanour Court for further proceedings as the charges against him fall under that court’s jurisdiction.

Community Appeal for Civility

Dubai authorities have emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and avoiding actions that lead to violence and legal repercussions. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of allowing minor disagreements to escalate into physical altercations.
