Dubai Ruler Approves AED3.7 Billion Five-Year Plan For New Internal Roads

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved an AED3.7 billion, five-year plan to build 634 kilometers of internal roads across Dubai. The ambitious project will improve connectivity and infrastructure in residential, commercial, and industrial areas across the emirate.

Key Project Highlights

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the plan includes 21 projects spread across 12 communities. It reflects Dubai’s ongoing investment in infrastructure to support rapid population growth and urban development.

Project Timeline and Locations

2025 Projects:

  • Internal roads in Nad El Sheba 3 and Al Amardi, enhancing access to the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) project, which includes 482 housing units.
  • Road construction in Hatta, serving another MBRHE project with 100 housing units.

2026 Projects:

  • RTA will develop 92 kilometers of internal roads in Nadd Hessa and Al Awir 1.

2027 Projects:

  • New roads totaling 45 kilometers in Al Athbah, Mushrif, and Hatta.
  • Roads covering 14 kilometers in the Warsan 3 Industrial Area.

2028 Projects:

  • The longest segment of the plan, totaling 284 kilometers, will include:
    • 221 kilometers in Al Awir 1
    • 22 kilometers in Wadi Al Amardi
    • 41 kilometers in Hind 3

2029 Projects:

  • Final projects include 200 kilometers of internal roads in Hind 4 and Al Yalayis 5, with 39 kilometers in Hind 4 and 161 kilometers in Al Yalayis 5.
Recently Completed Projects

By the end of 2023, Dubai had added 6,000 kilometers of roads in residential and industrial zones. Between 2011 and 2023, internal roads were paved across 28 areas.

In 2023 and 2024 alone, RTA completed 83 kilometers of internal roads in 17 areas, including Al Warqa 4, Al Qusais Industrial, Margham, Lehbab, Al Lisaili, and several Hatta districts (Suhaila, Saeir, and Al Salami).

Ongoing projects include road work in Jebel Ali Industrial, Nazwa, Tolerance District in Al Khawaneej 2, Al Warqa, Nad Al Sheba 1, and Al Awir.
