The Presidential Court of the UAE has announced that Sunday, March 30, will mark the first day of Eid Al Fitr 2025, following the confirmed sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday evening.
In a statement, the Court extended its heartfelt congratulations to the nation’s leadership, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the people of the UAE, as well as the world at large. The statement concluded with prayers to Almighty Allah for the nation’s continued blessings, prosperity, and happiness.
Eid Al Fitr 2025 will begin on Sunday
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal. This year, it brings an extended weekend for employees in the UAE. With this, UAE employees can enjoy a 4-day break and take time to rejuvenate and enjoy all the activities the country has to offer.
The country’s Moon-sighting committee gathered on Saturday evening to observe the new crescent moon. The successful sighting confirmed that Eid would commence on Sunday, March 30, signaling the end of the holy month of fasting; the same was declared in Saudi Arabia.
4-day long weekend for UAE employees
In celebration of this joyous occasion, public sector employees will be granted paid leave for the first three days of Shawwal. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also announced that private sector workers will enjoy a long weekend, with paid leave granted from Sunday, March 30, through Tuesday, April 1.
