As the festive period sparks, the increasing demand for travel takes center stage. While many UAE residents take this time off to return to their homes, others think of escaping to different countries.

However, given the large Indian expat community in the UAE, experts believe that a significant number of people have booked their tickets to India. Surprisingly, the cost of traveling within India has now risen to a point where ticket prices are even higher than those to Dubai.

Several flight booking platforms in India indicate that the cost of a flight to Kashmir is higher than a flight from any Indian state to Dubai during the month of December. While prices vary for other destinations within India, Kashmir remains the top spot for both the highest ticket prices and demand.

Asif Mir, Founder of Sultana Tour & Travels, believes, “The beauty of Kashmir is what makes this destination the number one spot in India for travelers. Every time tourists come here, they have so much to talk about the landscape, people, and the natural beauty of this location. December also marks the time when snowfall begins, and the temperatures dip to around 1 degree, offering tourists from metropolitan cities a refreshing break.”

As of December 20, the prices for direct flights from Mumbai to Kashmir are starting at ₹30,000 (approximately AED1,363). In comparison, a flight from Mumbai to Dubai is starting at ₹19,000 (approximately AED863).

The Finance 360 had earlier reported that travel agents in Dubai also highlighted the surge of Indians returning to the country for a break. An executive at Zulfair Travel, Dubai, stated, “There has been a 30% increase in ticket prices, but Indians have already booked their flights to Mumbai, Delhi, and Kerala for the festive break.”
