UAE residents eagerly anticipate this popular activity, looking forward to a quick escape in the heart of neighboring emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Fujairah. “Regardless of nationality, gender, or age, all guests can experience the magic of a desert night stay in the UAE. It’s a truly unique experience under the vast sky, surrounded by milky stars, a crackling bonfire, and a sizzling barbecue,” said Jibin Joseph.
He further added, “Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many guests have opted for staycations in the UAE rather than traveling abroad, which has led to a surge in demand for overnight camping.”
The growing popularity of glamping has shifted the focus toward well-facilitated hospitality, offering luxury options alongside traditional camping experiences.
“Guests can choose from luxury glamping rooms or the more traditional camping tents, complete with meals, breakfast, and activities such as camel rides, sandboarding, henna painting, Tanoura dance shows, fire shows, belly dancing, quad biking, buggy rides, horse riding, and more,” remarked Shabu Korah.
However, company owners are facing a few challenges when it comes to facilities for desert camps. “We are facing issues with proper roads, lighting, and directions,” explained Jibin and Shabu. “We would need more support from RAK Tourism, RAK Municipality, or the relevant authorities to address these basic challenges, which would significantly contribute to boosting tourism in Ras Al Khaimah for desert camping and glamping.”
As winter continues and residents seek outdoor adventures, glamping, and camping remain at the top of the list for those looking to experience the UAE’s stunning desert landscapes.
