US Vice President Kamala Harris has made headlines for clashing with American news network Fox News as she argued with anchor Bret Baier on a host of issues.
Fox News is regarded as a pro-Trump network across America, a sign of the network’s support for Harris’ Republican rival, Donald Trump.
The interview was testy to say the least as the two interrupted each other repeatedly while Harris used her famous line, “May I please finish, you have to let me finish,” a technique she has often employed against male rivals in past debates.
While the host, Baier, picked holes in Harris’ policies, Harris responded with a deliberate focus and drove points home. It is important to note that the contentious clash was conducted in swing state Pennsylvania.
Analysts say that Harris’ decision to sit down with Fox News signals her efforts to create a new narrative as there is still no clear front-runner in the 2024 US Presidential Race. This controversial interview follows Trump’s decision to turn down a second debate with Harris.
In the combative interview, Harris spoke against Trump’s threats to use the military on “enemies from within”.
What made headlines was her statement, “My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency. Like every new president that comes into office, I will bring my life experiences and my professional experiences and fresh and new ideas.”
